Elizabeth Schwall

Elizabeth Schwall is a Ph.D. candidate in Latin American and Caribbean History at Columbia University. Her dissertation examines how various dance forms contributed to public discourses on society, politics, and culture in Cuba and the diaspora from 1930 to 1990. She has contributed to the Dance Research Journal and the forthcoming Routledge Encyclopedia of Modernism, Dictionary of Caribbean and Afro-Latin American Biography, and New West Indian Guide / Nieuwe West-Indische Gid. A Graduate Research Fellowship from the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami and a Mellon Traveling Fellowship from Columbia University supported her dissertation research in the U.S. and Cuba.
